Privacy Policy

Last updated · July 7, 2026

Molt is built to be private by default. It's a browser extension that helps you delete your own posts on X — and it's designed so your data stays yours. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what Molt does and doesn't do with your information.

The short version
  • Deleting, reposting, unreposting, and unliking run entirely in your browser. Those never send your posts to our servers.
  • We never read your password or your private messages.
  • No tracking, no profiling, no data sales. No third-party analytics or ad trackers.
  • For those actions the only data sent is an anonymous install id (free-tier count) and, if you buy Lifetime, your license key.
  • The optional AI comment add-on is the one exception: when you enable it, the text of the public post you reply to (and a knowledge file you optionally upload) is sent to our server and Google Gemini to write the reply — and never stored. The knowledge file stays on your device.

What Molt accesses

Molt runs on x.com inside your browser and activates X's own controls on your behalf — delete, repost, undo repost, unlike, and (for the optional add-on) reply — at a paced, rate-limited speed. Deletion only ever targets your own posts. For the delete/repost/unrepost/unlike actions it does not collect, copy, or transmit the content of your posts anywhere.

What we store

Your preferences (delay, jitter, caps, which actions you picked, an optional AI-comment persona, and an optional knowledge file you upload), your progress counts, and your license status are stored locally in your browser's extension storage. This data stays on your device. We do not upload or keep your knowledge file on our servers.

What Molt sends

For the free daily delete limit and to unlock Lifetime access, the extension sends our server (molt.ankurai.com) only a random install id (a UUID generated on your device — not linked to your identity or your X account) and, if you activate a license, your license key. The actions themselves happen in your browser.

AI comments (optional add-on)

If you turn on the AI comment add-on and start it, Molt sends the text of the public post you are replying to — plus your install id, your add-on license key, and, if you uploaded one, the contents of your knowledge file — to our server, which forwards them to Google Gemini to generate a reply. The reply is returned to your browser and posted by you. We do not store the post text, your knowledge file, or the generated reply beyond what's needed to serve that single request. Your knowledge file itself lives only in your browser's local storage; you can clear it anytime, and removing the extension deletes it. This feature is off by default and only runs when you enable it and provide an add-on key.

Purchases & licensing

If you buy a Lifetime license, checkout is handled by our payment provider, Dodo Payments (our Merchant of Record). We receive your email address and an order reference so we can issue and validate your license key. We never see or store your full card details.

Analytics & tracking

None. Molt contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting. We don't log your browsing or your activity on X.

Third parties

Molt operates on X (x.com) within your browser; your use of X is governed by X's own terms and privacy policy. Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments under their privacy policy. If you use the AI comment add-on, post text is processed by Google (Gemini API) under Google's privacy policy solely to generate your reply. Molt is an independent product and is not affiliated with X Corp.

Data retention

Daily usage counters auto-expire within about two days. License records persist while your Lifetime access is active. You can clear your local settings and progress at any time by removing the extension.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll revise the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll also note it in the extension.
